モンバサ一人旅

Jambo!

ケニア第二の都市、モンバサへ行ってきました！

モンバサはケニア南部、インド洋に面した都市です。

ナイロビからバスで10時間でした。(バスはいくつか種類がありますが、私が利用したModern Coast は1400sh。22:00に出発し、翌朝8:00に到着しました。)

 I visited Mombasa, which is the second largest city in Kenya.
Mombasa places at south part of Kenya, and faces at Indian Ocean.
It took ten hours from Nairobi by bus. (22:00-8:00) There are some buses which connect Nairobi and Mombasa, but I used Modern Coast. It costed 1400sh.

・フォート・ジーザス

開園時間 8:00〜18:00

入場料 1200sh(18歳以下 600sh)

1593年にポルトガル人が造った砦です。彼らは植民地化を試みましたが、アラブ勢力の抵抗で失敗に終わりました。

私は中には入らず、ただ外から眺めてきました。とても大きく、完成から400年以上経った今でも中々の存在感を放っていました。

フォート・ジーザス、オールド・タウン、マーケットはガイドの人に案内してもらいました。(約1時間、400sh。値段交渉可能。) 特にオールドタウンは道も細かく入り組んでいるため、ガイドに頼んだ方が楽に回れます。

初めて見ましたが、迫力があります。

・Fort Jesus
Opening Hours 8:00-18:00
Entrance Fee 1200sh (under 18 years old 600sh)

It is a fort made by Portuguese in 1593. They made it to colonized Mombasa but they couldn't because of the resistance of Arabic people.
I just saw it from outside, I didn't enter it. It was really big and beautiful.

The guide showed me Fort Jesus to Old Town. I paid him 400sh. You can negotiate the price with guide. Especially Old Town has a narrow and complicated load, so if you want to visit there I recommend you to ask the guide.

The second photo is a Baobab tree. It was a first time for me to see it. It was really big and had a full impact.

・オールド・タウン

 

オールド・タウンには、ムスリムの人がたくさん住んでいます。道が狭く、建物の造りも違っていて、違う国に来たような錯覚に陥ります。

このように、モスクが至る所に建っていました。

コーランを復唱する子供達もいました。

タウン内にあるサンダルのお店。

ここでサンダルを作っていました。カラフルで、見ているだけでも楽しいです。

  ・Old Town
In Old Town, a lot of Muslim people live. There are narrow loads, different types of buildings...these things made me felt as if I was in a different country.
The second photo is a mosque. There are many mosques there.
The third photo are sandals. Some craftspeople were making sandal at the shop. Sandals are colorful and cute. You can enjoy buying sandals and also just only seeing these beautiful sandals.

・マーケット

お店に入った途端、ふわーっとスパイスの香りがしました。チリ、ナツメグ、ジンジャー、シナモン、バニラ…などなど、たくさんのスパイスが売られています。

野菜や果物がたくさんです。観光客と地元民でとても賑わっていました。

港町なので、魚の市場もあります。

・Market
The first photo is a spice market. When you enter here, soon you will notice smell of various spices. You can buy a lot of types spices such as chili, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon,vanilla...and so on.
The second photo is a fruit and vegetables market. There were many sightseeing people and local people.
The third photo is a fish market. Mombasa is a port city, so there were a lot of fish there.

・ディア二・ビーチ

ハイシーズン(12月)でないこともあり、人は少なかったです。静かなビーチです。

リゾートホテルがいくつか並んでいました。

値段は高めですが、レストランもあります。

白い浜も、透き通るような海もとても綺麗でした。

一人でいると、土産物屋がやたらと声をかけてくるので、のんびりビーチで過ごすのは難しいです。

アクセス

タウンからマタツでLikoni Ferry(リコニ・フェリー)乗り場へ(10〜30sh)。フェリーで対岸へ、約10分、無料。Ukumda(ウグンダ)までマタツで約30分、50〜100sh。トゥクトゥクでビーチまで約10分、50〜100sh。

・Diani Beach
There were not so many people there because it's not high season(December) now. It was a quiet beach.
There were some resort hotels. It's a little bit expensive but there were also restaurants. White beach and transparency sea were really beautiful.
But if you visit alone, many local people who sells souvenirs speak to you, so it's a little difficult to just relax on the beach.

Access
From town to Likoni Ferry terminal by matatu, it will cost 10-30sh. Then you take the ferry, it will take 10 minutes and it's free. Next you will go to Ukumda by matatu, it will take 30 minutes and it will cost 50-100sh. Finally you will go to the beach by tuktuk, it'll take 10 minutes and it'll cost 50-100sh.

・ホテル

Solomon's Castle Hotel に泊まりました。

泊まった部屋と、レストランの様子です。

料金 1500sh(朝食付き)

カヤ、テレビ有り。シャワーはお湯が使えます。バスタオルと石鹸もありました。wifiはフロントとレストラン付近で利用可能。レストランは朝食時のみオープン。

外の音が少し気になるのと、タウンの中心部からは少し離れていますが、値段の割にとても良いホテルでした。

 ・Hotel
I stayed at Solomon's Castle Hotel.
Fee 1500sh (including breakfast)
There were mosquito nets and TV. You can you shower in hot water. There were also bath towels and soap. You can use wifi near the front entrance and restaurant. Restaurant is only available at breakfast.
It is a little bit far from city center and there were a little noise from outside, but it was a nice hotel with good price.

・SGR

モンバサとナイロビを結ぶ列車。

今年出来たばかりなので、綺麗で清潔感がありました。 

所要時間 4〜5時間

運賃 ファースト3000sh、エコノミー700sh

私はエコノミーに乗りました。席はそれほど広くはないですが、特に問題はなかったです。

モンバサのターミナルはタウンから離れていますが、タウン内の旧モンバサ駅からバスが出ています。

ナイロビのターミナルも中心部から離れていますが、タクシーもたくさん停まっていますし、タウン行きのバスも停まっています。

・SGR
It is s train connect Mombasa with Nairobi. It was completed in this year so it was very clean.
From Mombasa to Nairobi, it took 4-5 hours.

Fare first class: 3000sh, economy class: 700sh

I used a economy class. The seats was not so big but it was still comfortable.

Mombasa terminal is a little bit far from city center, but you can go there by bus from old Mombasa station in city center. Also Nairobi terminal is far from city center, but you can go to city center by taxi or bus. So you don't have to worry about distance.

2泊3日(1泊バス内)の弾丸旅行、楽しかったです。

一人旅でしたが、やはり感じるのは、外国人だけだと交通費や何かを買うにしても高くとられます。

また、私はバスで行き電車で帰ってきましたが、電車がおすすめです。速くて安いので。

 It was very short time trip but I enjoyed it so much!

But it was same as other places in Kenya, local people charged for foreigners expensive.

And if you visit Mombasa from Nairobi, I recommend you to use train rather than bus because it's cheaper and faster.
