5年前の、ポートランド
(English after Japanese)
遅ればせながら、明けましておめでとうございます！
すっかり年が明けましたね。
おみくじは”吉”でした。まぁまぁですね。
ちょうど5年前、ポートランドへ行きました。
アメリカの西海岸、オレゴン州の街です。
なぜポートランドへ行ったかというと、
当時私は高校生だったのですが、学校の”海外研修ツアー”的なものに参加して行きました。
なんとなく憧れていた海外。
親にお願いして行かせてもらったのを覚えています。
これが初めての海外でした。
まずはポートランドの概要から。

約1週間滞在しました。
ホームステイでした。ファミリーに同い年の女の子がいたので、その子と一緒に学校へ行き、授業に混ぜてもらいました。
①学校の外観。海外の学校って感じがしました。笑
②たしか音楽の授業。
③バスケを観戦。
週末は観光に連れて行ってもらったり、親戚の人たちが集まってみんなでわいわいしていました。(誰かの誕生日だったか、新年を祝っていたのか、遅いけどクリスマスを祝っていたのか…なぜみんなが集まっていたのかは忘れました。)
協会にも連れて行ってもらいました。
④どこかにロープウェイで登りました。
⑤傘おじさんの像。ポートランドって雨がすごく多いんです。
⑥スーパー広い。コストコみたいですね。
⑦路面電車も走ってました。
その後、ロサンゼルスで一泊してから帰国しました。
⑧かわいい建物が並んでた。
⑨サンタ・モニカビーチ。白い砂浜。
⑩遠くに”Hollywood " が見えます。
11) 足跡と手形。みんな自分の手合わせたりする。笑
12) ショッピングモール。
当時は、本当に最低限のコミュニケーションしかとれませんでした。
でも、初めて英語で会話をした時でもありました。 英語でしかコミュニケーションがとれないという状況に置かれ、なかなか大変でしたが、通じ合えた時の嬉しさは忘れられません。
それと同時に、みんなの会話が分からないのはとても悔しかったです。私に話しかけてくれる時はゆっくりだから理解できても、みんなで話している時は早くてほとんど何も聞き取れませんでした。
正直、5年も経ったせいで色々忘れてしまっている気がします。
”英語で会話できた”というのが楽しかったのでしょうか…
何があんなに私の気持ちを高ぶらせていたのか思い出せませんが、日本に帰る飛行機に乗る前、「海外楽しい！大学行ったら絶対留学したい！」そう思ったことは覚えています。
初めての海外。
海外の楽しさを知った瞬間。
私の、大きなターニングポイントになったことには間違いないです。
今の旅好き、海外好きを考えると、私の原点でもあるのかなと思ったり。
それにしても、あの時からもう5年も経ったとは…。
この前、バイトの後輩に
「さゆりさんって、世界一周したんですよね？」
と言われて笑いました。
船で4ヶ国周ったけど、世界は一周してない、したいけど。知らぬ間に、話がでかくなってました。
行きたい国たくさんありすぎ。
世界一周したい。

May 2018 will be a wonderful year for everyone!
Five years ago, I visited Portland.
Portland is a biggest town in Oregon, in USA.
At that time, I was a high school student. I went to Portland as a kind of school tour.
I'd wanted to go abroad for a long time.
I asked my parents to let me go.
It was a first time for me to go abroad.
First, I'd like to introduce Portland briefly.

I stayed there about a week. I stayed at local people's house. That family had a daughter who was also high school student. So she took me to her school.
①The school. It was very different from high school I went in Japan.
②Maybe it was a music class.
③We saw basketball game.
In the weekend, they took me to many popular places in Portland, I don't remember why but many relatives gathered their homes, also we went to the church.
④We climbed somewhere by rope way.
⑤In Portland, they had a lot of rain.
⑥The super market was really large!
⑦There were trams.
After that, we stayed at Los Angels then backed to Japan.
⑧There were a lot of cute and colorful buildings.
⑨Santa Monica beach. The white sand beach was beautiful.
⑩You can see the letter "Hollywood" in a small size.
11) There were famous people's footprints and handprints.
12) Shopping malls.
At that time, I could hardly understand English. So it was very difficult to communicate with people in English.But English was a only tool to communicate with people there. It was really hard but when we understand each other, I was so happy.
Also I felt regret that I couldn't understand nothing their conversation in a natural speed. When they spot to me, they spoke slowly so I could understand but not these situations, I couldn't understand.
Actually, sadly, I forgot many things because already 5 years had passed.
I'm not sure but maybe it was because communication in English was really wonderful experiences for me, so I was so impressed and I thought "How wonderful going abroad is! I wanna go abroad to study when I become a university student!!"
It was a very first time to go abroad.
I noticed how amazing to travel abroad is.
It was a one of my important turning point.
I can't believe that 5 years has passed...times flies.
Few days ago, my friend asked me "Did you travel all around the world, didn't you?". I laughed. I traveled some countries but not a whole world. Rumors were just funny.
I really want to visit many countries.
I want to travel all over the world...
