ビクトリア湖

ケニアでは1ヶ月前に大統領選挙が行われました。
しかしなんと、選挙をやり直すそうです。
どういうことかというと…
選挙に敗れた野党党首が、最高裁判所に"選挙のやり直しを求める異議申し立て"をしていました。
審議の結果、最高裁判所は先週の金曜日9月1日に、”60日以内に大統領選挙をやり直す”と決定しました。
衝撃でした。どうせ異議申し立てとかしたって結果は変わらないだろうと思っていたら、まさかこうなるとは…
ちなみに、大統領選挙のやり直しはアフリカ初だそうです。
前置きが長くなりましたが、少し前の7月末に行った、ビクトリア湖の話をしようと思います。
ビクトリア湖はアフリカ最大の湖です。
私はHoma Bayを訪れました。

It was so shocking for me. I didn't imagine it...
By the way it seems that it'll be the first time to do the presidential election over again in Africa.
It was a little bit long introduction, but today, I would like to talk about Lake Victoria, where I visited on July.
Lake Victoria is a largest lake in Africa.
It faces Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
I visited Homa Bay.
とにかく大きいです。
海みたいです。
「湖の向こう側は違う国につながってるんだ…」
想像すると、なんだかワクワクしませんか？
ボートに乗ることもできます。
小さなボートで8人乗りくらいです。
約15分、湖をちょっと見て戻ってくるみたいな感じです。
料金は忘れてしまいましたが、1人100シリング(約100円)はしなかったと思います。
Lake was really big, it was like a sea.
Please imagine that there are other countries beyond the lake...isn't it exciting?
You can ride the boat.
It was small boat like eight people can board.
About fifteen minutes, you can see around on the lake.
I forgot the fee but I think it was less than 100sh(about one dollar) per person.
周りはとても静かです。
のんびり歩くことが出来ます。
Road near the lake was very quiet.
You can just relax and walk on your pace.
道路に沿って20分ほど歩くと、マーケットやレストランのある場所に着きます。
マタツ(乗り合いバス)はほとんど走ってませんが、ボダボダ(バイクタクシー)は走ってるので、歩き疲れていたらボダボダでもいいでしょう。
私はレストランで”ティラピア”を食べました。
ティラピアは、ビクトリア湖で獲れる白身の魚です。
油で揚がった形で出て来ました。特に臭みなどはなく、美味しかったです。
ケニア西部まで来ることがあれば、ぜひビクトリア湖まで足を運んでみて下さい。

When you walk about twenty minutes along the street, you can get to the small town where there are some restaurant and market.
There are few matatu(small bus) but you can go to town by bodaboda(bike taxi).
I ate tilapia at the restaurant.
Tilapia is a white fish which are caught in Lake Victoria. Tilapia I ordered was flied. It was delicious.
If you have a chance to visit west part of Kenya, I recommend you to visit Lake Victoria.
